NEWS FLASH - The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project CURRENTLY HAS LIMITED Assistant Research Positions available for periods of two weels to three months on a standard tourism visa. If you would love to have a working holiday experience watching wild meerkats / suricates and other wildlife on our reserves (you do not need any particular biological experience for this application) and wish to gain a unique insight into our research and conservation work then apply today. Accommodation at the Meerkat Mansion is currently available on a first apply and approval basis for a single or couple sharing.
These positions are for Research and Conservation and Education methodology experience in the field - or to experience something unique while on a working holiday. These limited positions are for assistants who would pay for their accommodation on The Study Areas, Tracker salaries, Experience, Equipment and various costs are quoted with an application determined by the duration of the visit. All assistants who make a significant contribution to The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project will receive mention in future articles on The Wild Web Site.

28 March 2007: A charity educational presentation was presented to Junior Primary School in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape of South Africa by Grant M. Mc Ilrath- A.K.A - The Meerkat Man. This was the fourth annual Educational Presentation given since 2004.

On Sunday the 25th March 2007 at 17:00 (5:00 pm) on SABC 2 (South African Broadcasting Commission Channel 2) a Documentary on The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project was screened on the 50 / 50 Conservation Programme. This was filmed over 2006.
Included in this documentary were special interveiws with The Wildlife Ranch, and Cyril Clark – the manager of Oudtshoorn Tourism Bureau, Tony Marshall from Nature Conservation, Local Ostrich Farmer Reserve (all film work was done around Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa).
The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project wishes to thank everyone who helped make this possible, with a very special thank you to Bart Smithers - Big Film and Television Productions cc
who filmed and produced this conservation work!

After more then two decades of severe drought, the Klein Karoo / Little Karoo had wonderful rainfall in 2006 - finally times of plenty had arrived for all the needy Fauna and Flora of this magnificent region around Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa.
One of The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project Wild meerkat / suricate groups that the public from around the world have been visiting, and watching in numerous National and International films, survived the very brink of extinction, due to the timely rainfall...
The International public, now for the very first time is invited to name the next generation of Wild meerkats / suricates of The Ungulungu Group.
In September 2006, four babies were born, and all are alive and well. In December 2006, another six babies were born and are all thriving - and of course can be watched on a morning Sunrise Tour at The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project.
The Matriarch and dominant female Jabulani Ungulungu and her dominant male mate Nyathi Ungulungu are the parents of the previous two Ungulungu litters.
