Project was the first and only research
project to begin this in the world since
2000.The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project does the
only Wild meerkat Conservation in the world, and
is entirely self funded.
It has taken
thousands of hours and many years of passion and
dedication and cost hundreds of thousands of
Rands invested to get so close and gain the Wild
meerkats trust without feeding them or taming

The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project is the only place in the world, where guests can get very close to this sub-species of the three currently recognised WILD meerkat / suricate sub-species without disturbing them with The Meerkat Man on a Sunrise and Sunset Tour! Your visit helps fund the only Wild meerkat / suricate conservation in the world!
Once filming/ photography rates (*) and conditions mentioned above are
agreed to, photographers/ crews are able to get
even closer to the Wild meerkat study group, but
only according to Grant's judgement of how
the animals are behaving. It remains
Grant's decision to cancel any filming or
photography if he feels it is
impacting negatively on the behaviour of the
Wild meerkats. The standard Tour rate applies to
all photography/ film shoot
sessions (excluding any images/
film taken as mentioned above which are
charged separately from any Tours.)
filming purposes it is advised to allow for more
then a single visit, as wildlife is
unpredictable, and if certain sequences are
being looked for please let Grant know
ahead of time for the best advice on how to
possibly attain these images/ sequences.
For every 10
photographs taken, 2 more may be taken as a
bonus at no charge. For every 5 minutes of
filming one more minute may be filmed at no
charge. All fees are payable directly after the
Tour as cash payments only, if needed banking
facilities are available in Oudtshoorn, and we
can visit these directly after a Tour

know ahead of any Tour if any photography
or filming is planned according to the
conditions above. Of course if no photography or
filming is done, there is no fee for that!
