In this EPISODE 6, The Ungulungu Wild meerkat / suricate group individuals have a fight over food. Although wild meerkats / suricates are amongst the most co - operative breeding mammals on planet earth..., they ARE NOT co - operative foragers / hunters for food as such. Each generation of wild meerkat / suricate searches for their own food. The same generation DOES NOT share food with that generation. The incredible exception to this is when baby meerkats are moving with the group for the first three to four months of their lives, everybody from higher generations cares for the young by bringing them food. The rest of the time it is each to their own - find your own food message as can be seen in this EPISODE 6. Filmed in The Meerkat Magic Valley at The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape of South Africa.

In this EPISODE 9, The Ungulungu Wild meerkat / suricate group chases a bat eared fox (Otocyon megalotis) out of one of their escape tunnels (bolt holes) - guests were very fortunate to see this, as it has never been filmed in the world before as a true wildlife encounter such as this - amazing to see how the meerkats / suricates teamed together to chase away a possible threat to them, so very much bigger then a meerkat individual! Once again filmed live in The Meerkat Magic Valley at The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape of South Africa.

In this EPISODE 10, The Ungulungu Wild meerkat / suricate group is involved with digging at an escape tunnel. This often happens, especially after a predator encounter. The youngest meerkats / suricates are protected by other individuals who hold them and use touch as a social bonding behaviour. There is a special membrane that wipes the eyes clean of dust, so even when digging the meerkat / suricate does not get blinded by sand for long. The very short hair on their heads allows a quick shake of the head, and all the sand falls away! This was filmed in The Meerkat Magic Valley at The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape of South Africa.

In this EPISODE 11, The Ungulungu Wild meerkat / suricate group babies show that each meerkat from the same generation does not share food - babies may be playing together, but as soon as food is involved each meerkat takes care of itself! This is the norm, but when baby meerkats make a special begging call, other older meerkats in the group will care for them by bringing them food - this continues for around three to four months of the babies lives. However, baby meerkats still do not tolerate anybody young or old trying to take their food from them! This was filmed in The Meerkat Magic Valley at The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape of South Africa.

In this EPISODE 12, The Ungulungu Wild meerkat / suricate group wakes up and warms their solar panel like bellies in the early morning sunlight, just on sunrise and sometimes they emerge just before sunrise in this ritual fashion. They use their strong muscular tails almost like an extra leg - this is not prehensile - like a spider monkey, so it can not hold onto an object, but the tail is a good support. Once the meerkats / suricates have all warmed up enough, it will be time to go in search of food away from the sleeping burrow. Filmed in The Meerkat Magic Valley at The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape of South Africa.
