Meerkatmagic: Walk With Wildlife

Objectives

Meerkatmagic contributes to this planet of ours by instilling a love and more importantly, a respect of nature and its "magical powers" in as many people, from as many diverse backgrounds as possible.

The desire and passion to preserve our natural heritage is encouraged by a completely unique in the world wildlife interactive experience.

After spending many years working in elitist research environments where findings are not readily shared with the public, Meerkatmagic will strive to make understanding of all research and knowledge easily accessible to everybody. The equivalen of open source code on the internet, but for research!

Meerkatmagic believes that all knowledge should be shared and enjoyed, and not reserved for a select few. Education is therefore an integral part of Meerkatmagic.

Meerkatmagic achieves this by the habituation of wildlife using specialised ethical habituation techniques, that preserve the wildness of animals for very close unobtrusive observation.

Visitors to Meerkatmagic become part of the wildlife world, but do not influence it. The visitor will not be treated as an outsider who is looking "in", as is the case with wildlife observation from a vehicle.

Meerkatmagic generates employment opportunities, through tourism activities leading to a sustainable social upliftment. One important form is through curio/artwork projects that Meerkatmagic is involved with.

Meerkatmagic is demonstrating a new alternative usage of land and existing wildlife resources, which is highly sustainable and cost effective.

Meerkatmagic aims to provide access to specific skills that will enable and empower future employees to in turn train other people in sustainable land usage practices and tourism activities.

Meerkatmagic believes that through creating awareness, appreciation can be instilled in visitors, followed by understanding and action, leading to conservation.

Meerkatmagic aims to support charities that aid in wildlife rehabilitation and education centres as a primary incentive from generated tourism revenue. Meerkatmagic aims to have wildlife benefiting people and animals on a sustainable basis.

Meerkatmagic gives many presentations as charities to any school, and will continue to provide this educational service.

Meerkatmagic shares information in a unique quiz section on the website, encouraging visitors to actively learn by seeking the answers. If you have any questions on meerkats or other wildlife from Meerkatmagic, you are welcome to submit a question and get a personalised reply from Grant.

Meerkatmagic will frequently add new photographs taken at Meerkatmagic to the Photo albums, and encourage visitors to learn about different plants and animals. Members will also be able to send free E-cards from the Photo album section. Membership is free.

Meerkatmagic aims to encourage visitors to be creative and submit their own poems on nature - all accepted poems will be accordingly acknowledged.

Meerkatmagic will be selling merchandise in the Meerkatmall, and creating employment locally and abroad with distributors, a percentage of all future revenue from this merchandise will be donated to various charities linked to Meerkatmagic.

Merchandise currently includes curios made by local South African artists, and will continue to create employment opportunities on a sustainable basis.

Meerkatmagic will be offering unique Wildlife Art Tours at Meerkatmagic in future, for visitors through the world famous Estelle Mc Ilrath Art School.
